What We Do
Products
PlanetiQ sets the standard for GNSS-RO data quality, offering the industry’s highest SNR through our proprietary, NASA-heritage receiver design.
GNSS-RO Data Quality and Precision
PlanetiQ provides high-precision Global Navigation Satellite System Radio Occultation (GNSS-RO) observations with exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). PlanetiQ’s GNSS-RO measurements have SNR more than seven times higher than those from other commercial GNSS-RO sources. The higher SNR enables deeper penetration into the lower troposphere and atmospheric boundary layer, where most atmospheric water vapor and many important weather processes are found. It also supports more precise detection and characterization of atmospheric ducting events.
More GNSS-RO Observations from Every Satellite
PlanetiQ satellites simultaneously track signals from all four major GNSS constellations: GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, and Galileo. Each satellite also uses a wide ±75-degree limb-sounding field of view.
By tracking multiple GNSS constellations simultaneously and observing signals across a wide field of view, PlanetiQ satellites can observe more GNSS transmitters at the same time. This creates more radio occultation opportunities and enables PlanetiQ to produce more GNSS-RO observations per hour than other commercial RO constellations.
More Information from Every Radio Occultation
PlanetiQ’s proprietary Pyxis receiver, high-accuracy oscillator, and bespoke satellite antenna design are engineered to maximize the information captured from each radio occultation event.
The combination of exceptionally high SNR, high-rate signal sampling, precise timing, and advanced antenna design enables PlanetiQ to retrieve highly detailed atmospheric profiles. These capabilities provide greater information from each observation, including detailed measurements of atmospheric structure in the lower troposphere and ionosphere.
